Forest Management

There is a difference between a tree and a timber tree - and high quality timber takes some skill to produce, particularly in the case of broadleaved trees. Interventions such as weeding from competing vegetation, respacing to ensure optimum early growth rate, formative pruning to develop a strong leader and the delivery of timely thinnings can all help a forest manager to realise the potential of their trees to become timber trees.
